Abstract

A first device (100) for proximity-based communication between the device and at least a second device (100'). The first device includes: a communication unit CU (105) adapted to communicate between the two devices in a wireless manner; a network layer NL (110) for communicating information between the two devices through the CU and determining or detecting physical proximity between the two devices and communicating information regarding that detection of physical proximity or a lack of said detection; a PAN-cell-Management layer PCML (130) for translating the physical proximity information received over time from the NL (110) into time- and proximity-based events; and an application layer AL (140) including a memory in which at least one computer application is stored, the PCML (130) communicating information of occurence of at least one of the proximity-based events to the computer application so that the computer application can perform a task programmed to be performed on occurence of the one of the proximity-based avents.
