Fisher’s daughter, Billy Lourd, has made headlines surrounding her mother’s big honor as it’s being reported she uninvited close family members to the ceremony including Carrie’s sister, Joely Fisher.

According to several sources, Lourd uninvited some immediate family members due to her disappointment surrounding how they handled her mother’s death. Audacy’s The Gary Bryan Morning Show spoke with Carrie’s sister, actress Joely Fisher, this morning and got her side of the story.

“I wasn’t disinvited,” Fisher clarified on-air with the show. “My niece is standing in her truth about how she feels of our relationship — we have not really had a relationship since the death of my sister — we had a great relationship up until then.”

She continued, “I unapologetically wanted it out there [since] people have been asking me — ‘Congratulations are you gonna be there?!’ — and just kept sort of waiting to find out where we were going, what time and all that and then [got] this sort of very striking response to that from Billy. I think she needed to get a couple of things straight —obviously, it’s how she feels and I have to validate that — everybody is allowed to grieve how they want to, everybody’s allowed to move through grief. But, there’s a couple of things she didn’t get right and that makes me sad. I apparently won’t ever have a relationship with her.”

Joely went on to detail some of the accusations Lourd put on her in a text conversation, the main one being Joely profiting off Carrie’s death through her book, Growing Up Fisher: Musings, Memories, and Misadventures — something Joely says is simply not true.

“She said something about me profiting off of her mother’s death and she said some things about how she didn’t know about it,” Joely shared. “Some day I would love to heal that and for her to hear directly from me about my beautiful, intense, connected relationship with her mother.”
