This Nigerian founder bought Gatwick Airport, rejected Warren Buffet, and just sold his company for £10 BILLION. This is the insane story of Adebayo Ogunlesi. After finishing school in Lagos, Adebayo went to study at Oxford University, then Harvard Law & Business school, to become a renowned investment banker at Credit Suisse. After 20 years, Adebayo was asked by Warren Buffet to fly to Nebraska and study a potential investment, but turned around and rejected the legendary investor. At this point, Adebayo knew he needed to change job so he launched GIP, a major private equity fund worth £4 billion, funded by his connections at Credit Suisse. Then the real business began… First he bought “London City Airport” for £760m in 2006 - eventually selling it for £2 billion. Then he bought London Gatwick Airport for £1.5 billion in 2009. And finally, Edinburgh Airport for £807m in 2012. Now, 12 years on, Adebayo has sold GIP (the company that owns all the airports) for over £10 BILLION to BlackRock, certifying himself as a billionaire. Crazy. Despite starting from humble beginnings in Nigeria, Adebayo is now an icon to African, and global, entrepreneurs. A net worth of £2.3 billion, one of the most influential money managers in the world, and the definition of success - Adebayo has come a long way from his childhood days in Lagos. Incredible story - well done Adebayo! For more motivating business stories like this, follow me Timothy Armoo and sign up for my newsletter CheatCodes >> https://lnkd.in/eMy22Fbw
