A really good upgrade from the iPad Mini 6

December 12, 2024I was going to upgrade from my iPad mini 6 to the mini 7 but the spec bump was not enough to justify the price. John Lewis had this iPad Air on offer with £40 off the list price so it was just slightly more expensive than the new iPad mini 7. What's not to like? It has a super fast M2 chip and will be AI compatible. The images are sharper and clearer and the refresh rate is quicker than my iPad mini 6. I opted for the 11 inch as it's still portable, the 13 inch screen would be too big for me. The only downside is that my apple pencil 2 is not compatible and so it's an added cost getting the Apple Pencil Pro, also no plug suppled so you need to buy a 20W USB-C plug if you don't have one. The braided cable supplied is a nice touch. I like the larger screen compared to my old iPad mini and the battery life on the iPad Air is far better. Apple products are built to last a long time. I'm hoping my new iPad will give me 5 years of use or more before needing to upgrade again. In all I'm happy with my purchase.

June 14, 2024Apple products never disappoint. It is built to last. iPad Air M2 comes in with a very sleek look similar to the previous models- except this time it is now in a 13 inch. The only thing that bothered me is that when I got this. There is a small dented part by the camera. I returned it and immediately got a new one from Best Buy’s return policy.
60 fps, 2 speakers, Touch ID, never bothered me opposed to the IPad Pro version. These never stopped me from being productive.
The only thing I wish is the thunderbolt capabilities. That would be epic for iPad Air as I am basically using this as a laptop and file transferring would be more convenient with the thunderbolt.
The nicest thing is being able to just go from iPHone files to iPad and how iCloud sync works. I can just access everything on this IPAD!!
Battery life on this is superb. My surface pro 9 could never. Durability is okay as it looks like it can easily bent. Display is nice and bright. Except the 60 fps but it’s cool.
I would definitely recommend this product to everyone,

June 1, 2024All together is a very good and powerful product. I can perform many tasks without needing my PC. Surfing, watching videos, taking notes and developing photos with Lightroom for iPad works very well. Combined with a (pricey) Magic Keyboard is almost like having a very lightweight laptop.
It misses a few “pro” features that justify the more expensive model. For example, the 120Hz variable refresh rate, and the Face ID unlock. However, are minimal aspects that is possible to ignore.
For heavier duty operations I use the VMWare Horizon client to connect it to a Windows instance if needed, but is a very niche application.
All and all, is a very capable and powerful powerhouse, I highly recommend it as an alternative to a laptop. However, keep in mind that is still quite limited by iPad OS.
Life enhancing product!

October 24, 2024It's a lot of money but the iPad Air 2024 (13") has definitely added something to my life. The best thing is the big screen for reading. Previously I was trying to do that on my iPhone and rarely finished a ( newspaper) article because it was just too difficult. With a Bluetooth keyboard it has replaced my seven or eight year old lap top. I've also recently downloaded Tidal for streaming music. Again the big screen is really useful for seeing a whole lot of album or artist choices alongside the current playlist. I joined an online meeting the other day and the large screen was great for seeing everyone.
It is big and that's what I like, but it's also slim and not too heavy, even in a case. I will be taking it with me to meetings, something I couldn't really do with the laptop. Some people might find it unwieldy. My partner is used to his iPad mini and finds my 13" screen rather "jumbo". But I'm delighted with it ☺
